Escudo de azul, uma armação de moinho de negro, vestida e cordoada de prata, acompanhada em chefe de dois pinheiros arrancados do mesmo, frutados de verde; em ponta, leão passante de ouro. Coroa mural de prata de três torres. Listel branco com a legenda a negro, em maiúsculas : “ S. MAMEDE - BATALHA “.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on May 19, 1999.
The lion is a cymbol of the local patron saint, São Mamede (St. Mammes of Caesarea). The pine trees refer to the local (pine) forests and the wind-mill blades refer to the (former) windmills in the parish as well as industry.
