Origin/meaning
The green shield symbolises agriculture and especially the meadows very present in the municipality. The grapes represents the vines and winegrowers who were very present in the area before the arrival of Phylloxera in the 19th century.
The bezants are taken from the arms of the Lanneau de Marey family, owner of the Bard castle from the 16th to the beginning of the 20th century, and they are also the attributes of Saint Matthew, the patron saint of the municipal church.
The blue wave represents the Ru d'Acier which crosses the municipality. The horseshoes represent draft horses before the arrival of motorization and also refer to the former iron ore mining in the region.
The barbels were taken from the arms of Guy de Bar, knight, known as the Beau de Bard, and whose coat of arms was reconstituted on the south chapel of the Saint Mathieu church.
The border is taken from the arms of the Côte-d'Or département.
