Escudo de vermelho, fuso de ouro entre duas bilhetas de prata, vazias do campo; em chefe, um mundo crucífero de ouro, guarnecido de azul; campanha ondeada de prata e azul de quatro peças. Coroa mural de prata de quatro torres. Listel branco com a legenda a negro, em maiúsculas : “ COINA - BARREIRO “.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on May 22, 1997.
The chief shows an orb, for Jezus Christ, patron of the parish.
The two squares refer to the glass industry in the town. The diamond refers to the former mercury mine, which made the area quite prosperoous.
The base symbolises the Coina river.
