YELLOWKNIFE
Province : Northwest Territories
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were adopted on 27 June 1956, after a local contest was sponsored by the City. A design by Ms. Netta Pringle was chosen as best representing the essential dynamics and character of Yellowknife.
The Yellowknife arms are symbolic of the Mining Industry, Great Slave Lake, the Northern Lights, Fishing, the Yellowknife Blade (knife), the Raven and the Midnight Sun.
The motto MULTUM IN PARVO means "MANY THINGS IN A SMALL WAY"
