Canton : Zürich
Incorporated into : 1922 Winterthur

Wappen von Oberwinterthur

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms are identical to the arms of themedieval family Meier von Oberwinterthur, which is known from 1291. The colours are known since 1340 and the colours have not changed since. In the 18th century the village adopted arms consisting of a red shield with two golden lions holding a checquered bar. This image was still used in 1810, but later the older (above) arms appeared again.
