BORREDÀ
Region : Catalonia
Province : Barcelona
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on June 16, 1983.
The arms show the Ball de Borredà, a typical local dance that is performed in 15th August, during the Festa Major, or main village festival. The symbols of the second partition (a staff and a chicken) are related to the fact that Borredà was given, in the 10th century, to the monastery of Ripoll: the arms of the town of Ripoll are canting ("poll" in Catalan means "chicken").
