KEMIJÄRVI
Region : Lapland
Former province : Lapland
Additions : 1973 Kemijärven maalaiskunta
Official blazon
- (1960) Punaisessa kentässä kaksi siivekästä hopeista uittohaan terää ristikkäin.
- (1973) Mustassa kentässä kanto, jonka yläpää teroitettu kolmikärkiseksi ja sen molemmin puolin saatteena kuusisakarainen tähti, kaikki hopeaa.
Origin/meaning
The arms were adopted in 1973 and are the old arms of the rural municipality of Kemijärvi.
The previous arms were officially granted on November 25, 1960.
The arms show two wings, used as a symbol of progress, and two boat hooks. These hooks were traditionally used to steer logs through the rivers.
