Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted 1 February 1965 after nine years of negotiations with the College of Arms in London.
ict and join as one within the Shire. This is represented by the wavy "Y" charge on the shield, its white edging representing the banks on each side of the streams.
The area was once covered with Hoop Pine trees, two of which serve as supporters. The axe and stump allude to land clearing by the early pioneers.
The shield is divided in half, red with a cog-wheel, for industry, and green with a maize cob for agriculture and a bull's head for farming.
The motto "Consilio et Animis" means "With Prudence and Courage".
