Crests: (On the dexter, the helmet contournee) On a wreath of the colours, an angel issuantfrom clouds proper, holding a platter Or, thereon the head of St. John the Baptist also proper. (On the sinister) On a wreath of the colours, On a charger proper rayonee Or the head of St. John the Baptist also proper.
Supporters: On either side on a mount vert an angel vested winged and crowned with stars [ = celestial crown] Or.
Motto: Ecce Agnus Dei qui tollit peccata mundi.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on 24 September 1456. The arms were confirmed, and second crest and supporters granted 29 January 1603, both crests confirmed 9 September 1961.
The original motto was 'Delite in God & he shall give the thy desyre'. In 1603 it was 'Quae arguuntur a lumine manifestantur'.
