BAD ISCHL

State : Oberösterreich
District : Gmunden
Additions : 18?? Lauffen

Bad-isch.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were officially granted on March 28, 1966, but the arms were first granted in the middle of the 15th century.

In 1469 it was mentioned that the city used a coat of arms. On March 10, 1514 Emperor Maximilian I confirmed the arms as given by his father.
The arms as described already showed an chamois on three black ills and with a small tree. The arms with mountains, chamois and the tree (officially an aspen tree) are symbolising the surroundings of Bad Ischl, with its many forests and wildlife.
