Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 3, 1979 and combine elements of the former arms of the different villages.

Wappen von Pressig/Arms (crest) of Pressig

The old arms were granted in 1957 and shows in the upper part a symbol for the railroad. The railroad was built in 1885 and the town became a major station. Due to this the town grew rapidly in the beginning of the 20th century. The colours are taken from the colours of the arms of the State of Bamberg, to which the area belonged until 1803. The lower part shows a star taken from the arms of the Lord of Würtzburg, who ruled the town in the 14th century.
