POLOMKA
Province : Banská Bystrica
District (okres) : Brezno
Official blazon
V červenom štíte skrátené rameno držiace vodorovne zdvihnutú sekeru, všetko strieborné.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on April 23, 1998.
The coat of arms resembles woodcutting and forestry, historically the main occupation of the villagers. The arms also refer to the famous rebellion of 1932. This was a reaction on the very poor living conditions at the time in the region, and the villagers attacked the local landlord. It was one of the first peasant uprisings at the time. The story has also been made into a book and movie (in 1972).
The village already used a seal since 1737, showing a symbol for the Holy Trinity. This seal was not used for the design of the new arms in 1998.
