Origin/meaning
Hausach was mentioned as a city and a possession of the Counts of Fürstenberg in the late 13th century. The oldest known seal dates from 1453 and shows a canting house in a shield. In the middle of the 17th century the house was reduced to a framework of beams in the shape of a triangle. This composition was also seen on later seals and is used as city arms since 1866.
