Official blazon

I blått fält en krönt madonna med gloria och mandorla, bärande på vänster arm barnet med gloria, att av guld, och stående på en månskära av silver

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 20, 1951.

The arms are knwon from a seal of the city from 1649. The arms show a canting St. Mary, which was also seen on the seal of the local abbey from 1525.
