In rot zwei schräg gekreuzte silberne Schlüssel, oben einen sechsstrahligen silbernen Stern und unten ein silbernes Kreuz, aus dem ein silbernes Herz wächst.

Origin/meaning

The two crossed keys are taken from the arms of the medieval Diocese of Bremen. The star is the symbol for St. Mary, the patron saint of the city and Archdiocese of Hamburg. The heart is taken from the arms of the Blessed Niels Stensen, apostolic vicar of the Nordic Missions (1638 –1686).
