Origin/meaning
The Pine Tree symbolises service of the first USS Champion in the Revolutionary War. The Water Bouget symbolises water transport service of the second USS Champion on the Mississippi, Tennesssee and Red Rivers in 1863-1865. The firebomb represent the Kamikaze attack that damaged the third USS Champion during World War II. The chevron symbolises the mine countermeasure operations. The Crest symbolises the name and the heritage and service of the previous ships named Champion.
