Helmteken: 'n Blou boomaalwyn, rooi geblom.

Arms: Per chevron Azure and Argent, in chief two spoons in altire, handles upwards and joined by an embowed chain Or, in base a double-handled candlestick with a candle, Azure, enflamed Gules.

Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on August 9, 1989.
Gazankulu is the traditional home in South Africa of the Shangaan tribe whose lands also extent over the national borders into Mocambique. Spoons attached to one another by means of a chain, all of which is carved out of a single block of wood, are unique to Shangaan culture and symbolic of peace, harmony and co-operation. The candle, in turn, is the principal source of light in rural homes not yet supplied with electricity. This candle is symbolic of the light of knowledge and in this case replaces the more customary nurses' lamp. Aloes, which are also found in profusion in Gazankulu, have long been recognised as having medicinal properties , hence the wish of the College that one be depicted for the crest.
