Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the arms of Philippe, 3rd son of King Jean II of France. Philippe was first given the Duchy of Touraine. In 1363 he received the Duchy of Burgundy. The first and fourth quarter show the arms of Touraine, the second and third the arms of the elder line of the Dukes of Burgundy, granted to them around 1170.
