Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 2, 1989.

The arms show the famous rune stone of Busdorf, one of the largest in Germany. The inscription reads : King Sveinn placed the stone in memory of Skarði, his retainer, who travelled to the west, but who then died at Hedeby.
