DIOCESE OF LEXINGTON (Dioecesis Lexingtonensis)

Country : United States
Denomination : Roman Catholic

Established : 1988

Arms (crest) of Diocese of Lexington

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The three colours are the national colours of the USA. The swords stands for Saint Paul patron of the Diocese of Covington, the blue fleur-de-lys on white represents (in opposite colors) the Archdiocese of Louisville. Out of these two dioceses Lexington was formed in 1988.

The blue field also symbolises the Bluegrass State Kentucky. The crown and cross symbolise Christ the King, patron of the diocesan cathedral.
