SUSUMANSKY RAYON (Сусуманский район)

Federal subject : Magadan Oblast

Coat of arms (crest) of Susumansky Rayon

Official blazon

В червленом поле узкий лазоревый опрокинутый вилообразный крест, тонко окаймленный серебром, поверх всего два золотых кайла накрест; крест внутри сопровожден отвлеченным острием, рассеченным золотом и чернью.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 25, 2008.

The arms show the confluence of the Ayan-Yuryakh and Kulu rivers to form the Kolyma river. The blue also symbolises the many other rivers in the region. The silver lines are the roads along the rivers that join the villages in the district.

The miner's tools and the pyramid in base refer to the coal and gold mining in the region.

The arms replaced the former arms adopted in 2007.

These arms showed identical symbolism as the current arms, but in a very non heraldic way.

The first arms were adopted on February 22, 2002 and were based on the old arms used by Sususman. They showed mining equipment and the Kolyma river in base.
