Official blazon

Arms': Gules three Cannon Barrels erect palewise proper each surmounted on the breech by a Lion's Face Or.
Motto: 'CLAMANT NOSTRA TELA IN REGIS QUERELA' - Our weapons clash in the King's quarrel.

Origin/meaning

A grant of arms was received by the Borough on August 9, 1934, using a design which had been in use since 1901.

The three cannon barrels symbolise the famous Royal Arsenal, the oldest munition factory in England, whilst the leopard's head on each cannon breach is said to have reference to the Manorial arms.
