Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on November 15, 2004.
The arms of the Association des Fortin d'Amérique include elements drawn from the arms of Normandy and of Perche, the original homelands of the Fortins. The fortress refers to the name Fortin and to the French word "fortin" meaning a small fort. The waves represent the immigration of the Fortin ancestors to New France and their crossing of the Atlantic on the way to their new homeland. The fleur-de-lis symbolizes France and French Quebec. The maple leaf refers to the Fortins now living in Canada, and the star, those now living in the United States.
The motto meaning "Family, faith, work", is intended as a precept for all Fortins, past and present.
