Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on October 10, 2018.
The arm in armor holding a sword in his fist is a symbol from the noble coat of arms of the Iuga and Vlad families, signifying today's continuity of the two families in the town of Săliștea de Sus.
The feathered inkwell refers to the locality from Maramureș with the most students and to the poet Ion Iuga who was born in the locality.
The mine mouth represents the entrance to the salt mine in the locality, which existed in the years 1650-1700, in the area of Cetățuie hill; the place of the mine disappeared (collapsed), leaving behind a spring of salt water that the inhabitants still use today, representing the richness of the soil.
The mural crown with three crenellated towers means that the town has the status of a city.
