Stema Cut

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 7, 2020.

Vigilance is an element of the episcopal coat of arms of Petru Pavel Aaron, Bishop of Făgăraş (1752-1764), and refers both to the personality of the bishop and to the role played by him in the history of the locality.

The vine branches with grapes are both a local characteristic and a theological reference, knowing the important role of the ecclesiastical factor in the life and history of the commune.

Wheat ears represent the specific activity of the area, agriculture.

The open book is a symbolic reference to the original unpublished manuscripts of the Vulgate Bible, translated by the Bishop of Blaj and his collaborators, in a monumental edition of the Romanian Academy, initiated by the great literary historian Eugen Simion and made by an academic team coordinated by Ioan Chindriș and Neculina Iacob.

The mural crown with a crenellated tower means that the locality has the rank of commune.
