Origin/meaning
Arms: The colour green represents the lush grasses at the Nanaimo Golf Club course. The fountains are a reference to the water hazards golfers must negotiate. The representation of the Nanaimo Bastion symbolizes the historic building located in the City of Nanaimo, and emphasizes the golf course’s affinity to the city.
Crest: The black lozenges are taken from the arms of the City of Nanaimo and further indicate that the Nanaimo Golf Club is affiliated with the city. The cougar is an animal native to Vancouver Island, and it grasps three distinct types of golf clubs.
The Motto translates as “We hope for a hole in one!”. The arms were granted on August 17, 1995.
