Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 9, 2002.

The apple-tree shows both the location of the town at the Obelis river (“obelis” refers to “apple-tree” in Lithuanian) and the locally important horticulture. Also it symbolizes love, friendship and fertility.
