SCHARNITZ

State : Tirol
District : Innsbruck-Land

Scharnitz.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were officially granted on April 4, 1967.

The arms show the large fortress 'Porta Claudia', which was built during the Thirty Years War near the village, as the valley locally was rather narrow and thus of strategic importance.

Literature : Köfler and Beimrohr, 1995
