Spanish | Escudo de sinople, burgo de plata, con sendos escudetes blancos, con castillos de oro. Debajo del burgo un rey al antural, coronado de oro y vestido de gules con castillos de oro. Lleva un triple filete, oro, gules y oro. Flanquedo por dos ramas de sinople, entre las que enlaza una cinta de gules con letras de sable con las leyendas: Caput Castellae: Cabeza de Castilla, Camera Regia: Título reconocido por todos los Reyes, Prima Voce et Fide: Derecho de la Ciudad de Burgos para hablar la primera en todas las Cortes del Reino como Cabeza del mismo. Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on July 9, 2008.
The city was founded in 884 by Diego Rodriguez, count of Castille. The bordure (until 2008) and the two smaller shields show the arms of Castille. The town was the capital of Castille-León until 1492. The king in the arms was added during the reign of Henry II of Trastamara (1368-1379). In 2008 the bordure was changed.
