Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1904 but have been used since the late 19th century.

The arms combine the eagle of Rottweil with the arms of Württemberg. The area historically belonged to the Rottweil district of Württemberg. In the early 19th century the eagle was used with a breastshield with the letters FT (Flecken (=town) Trossingen). Later these were replaced by the deer antlers of Württemberg.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
