Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on July 6, 1981.
The pine tree refers a local legend. A hunter once sat on a pine tree trunk where he found a statue of Mary. He thus founded the local church. The tree also refers to the forests in the municipality.
The wolf is talen from the arms of the State of Passau to which the area historically belonged. The bear with the axe is the arms of the Hackledt family, a local noble family whose burial tomb is in the local church.
