Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted in 1913.
The arms appear already on a local seal of 1713, without indication of the colours. The arms are most likely (double) canting: the German name for this village is Pfauen, meaning peacock; whereas the beech refer to the French name, which some etymologists derive from the Latin fagus (beech).
