NO 878 SQUADRON, FAA

History: First foremd in 1943 at Royal Naval Air Station Lee-on-Solent as a Fleet Fighter Squadron for HMS Illustrious equipped with Grumman Wildcats. Disbanded after 10 months service.

Motto: Feles non pusilla

Origin/meaning

The Badge alludes to the Grumman Wildcat flown by the Squadron. The Latin Motto translates as "A cat but no weakling" further alludes to this Aircraft. The Badge was approved on 7 July 1943.
