95TH COMBAT SUPPORT HOSPITAL, US ARMY

Coat of arms (crest) of the 95th Combat Support Hospital, US Army

Official blazon

A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a silver cross bearing a horizontal bamboo stalk surmounted by three vertical spears points up, entwined with a wreath of green laurel leaves extending over the base of the spears, under the bamboo, and terminating on each side of the spears at the upper shafts, all in front of an encircling maroon scroll extending from the spearheads and inscribed on the left and right base quarters “WE CARE FOR ALL” in silver.

Origin/meaning

Maroon and white (silver) are colors traditionally associated with the Army Medical Corps. The laurel wreath commemorates the Meritorious Unit Commendation awarded the parent unit for service in the European Theater during World War II. The spearheads refer to the three assault landings, World War II. The bamboo stalk denotes the former hospital’s service in Vietnam. The cross, an emblem indicating physical care, together with the encircling scroll, connotes the mission of the Hospital and the spirit of its motto. The swift action provided by the former unit in providing emergency services within the combat zone and evacuation to other medical facilities is also symbolized by the spears that form a part of the cross.

The Distinctive Unit Insignia was originally approved for the 95th Evacuation Hospital on 1 August 1969. It was redesignated effective 16 September 1993, with description and symbolism revised for the 95th Combat Support Hospital.
