GÖSTLING AN DER YBBS
State : Niederösterreich
District : Scheibbs
Official blazon
In einem silbernen (weißen) Schild ein roter Schrägrechtsbalken, zu beiden Seiten begleitet von je einer roten Lilie.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on July 1, 1962.
The municipality started the proposal for a coat of arms in anticipation to the promotion to Marktgemeinde in 1962. The town never had of seals or arms, so a new design had to be made. Together with the State Archives the municipality decided on the use of the arms of the Humel family. Members of the family have been acting judges in the village and also owned one of the earliest hammer mills in the area (a place to work iron).
The family arms are known from the 18th century. As the family became extinct in the 19th century, the arms could be used by the municipality.
