HENRY KLONOWSKI
Born : March 8, 1898
Deceased : May 6, 1977
Auxiliary Bishop of Scranton, 1947-1973

Argent, a unicorn rampant gules, charged with a crescent of the field, on a:chief azure a dove close regardant on a mond between two mullets of the field.
Origin/meaning
The unicorn is taken from the arms of a Klonowski family and symbolises here the last name of the bishop. The crescent is a symbol of St. Mary, patron saint of the USA and also the patron of the last parish where the bishop served as priest. Blue and silver are also the colours of Mary.
The orb is the symbol of royal power and refer to the German king Saint Henry, the patron saint of the bishop. The dove is taken from the arms of pope Pius XII, who appointed him as bishop. The two stars are taken from the arms of Bishop William Joseph Hafey, under whom bishop Klonowski served.
