ROHRMOOS-UNTERTAL

State : Steiermark
District : Liezen

Rohrmoos.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on 21 June, 1971.

The municipality lies near Schladming (Enns valley region in Upper Styria). The arms refers to tourism (the silver "point" means the mountains of the skiing region), agriculture (the wheat-sheaf) and to mining (once of considerable importance, now local history).

The cross is of the design which was used by the Evangelische Jugendbewegung (Protestant Youth Movement). The region near Schladming has always been strongly Protestant since the 16th century, even during the Catholic Counter-Reformation in the 17th and 18th centuries.
