Coat of arms of Bălți

The old coat of arms of the Iaşi county was a horse, and when the Eastern part of the county was transferred from Turkey to Russia in 1812, the horse's head became the coat of arms of the region and the city of Bălți.

In 1858 a new design was proposed, showing the old arms with in a free canton the coat of arms of the province Bessarabia. The design was not approved.
