Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 19, 1932.

The oldest use of the arms dates from the 16th century. The arms initially showed a different number of stars, one, two or three. When only one star was used, it was placed between the two towers. These arms are most likely derived from the arms of the Lords von Friedberg, who lived in an estate near Meilen in the 15th century. All images since the early 16th century show the same composition, however the shape and place of the different items has varied considerably during the centuries.
