Escut caironat: d'atzur, una espasa i un bàcul de bisbe d'or passats en sautor, l'espassa en banda i per damunt del bàcul en barra; el peu d'or, 4 pals de gules. Per timbre una corona mural de poble.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 20, 1992.

The staff and sword refer to the local patron saint, St. Martin, bishop and soldier. The arms show also the royal sign of the four red pales on gold, because Avià was repopulated by Guifré I of Barcelona.
