Wappen von Töss

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were designed in the early 20th century. The cross and hills in the base of the arms are the old arms of the [[|Hungary|Hungarian Kingdom]] and are taken from the arms of the local Dominican convent. Between 1315-1343 Princess Elisabeth of Hungary was a nun in the convent and the cross has been part of the seals of the convent ever since.

The cross was also used by the Amt Töss until the middle of the 19th century. The village of Töss adopted in 1799 arms with only the grapes and the grape-knife. The elements of the two different previous arms/seals were thus combined to the above arms.
