Origin/meaning

The arms have been officially granted on 26th April 1989.

The golden lion is the traditional arms (at least since the 19^th century) of the village, that developed around the castle of Castellnou (10-11th centuries), now in ruins. This castle belonged originally to the barons of Balsareny (until 1187) and later to the bishops of Vic (1296-1812).
