Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on February 10, 1992.
Gombrèn is a large municipality in the Pyrenees but with a sparse population (222 inhabitants in 2000). The arms show the mountains of the Serra the Mogrony with two castles in the municipality, the ones of Blancafort and Mataplana, this one the centre of a barony. The crosier between the castles reminds that the village was under the jurisdiction of the monastery of Sant Joan de les Abadesses.
