CROZON
Département : Finistère
French | D'or au lion morné de sable ; à la bordure de gueules chargée de trois macles d'or, une en chef et deux aux flancs. |
English | No blazon/translation known. Please click here to send your (heraldic !) blazon or translation |
Origin/meaning
The arms were designed and adopted in 1977.
The complete arms show the motto 'Etre daou vor', or Between two seas (in Breton), as wella s the decorations of the War Cross 1939-1945.
The arms are a combination of the arms of the former rulers in the region, the lion of the Counts of Léon and the diamonds of the Counts of Rohan. The combination already appeared on the seal of the Crozon Estate from 1525.
