Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 15, 2005.

These are the arms of the former Amt Michendorf.

The previous arms were granted on December 4, 1935:

Wappen von Michendorf/Arms (crest) of Michendorf

The arms were proposed in 1935 by the secretary of the municipality. The arms indicated the historical importance of the cultivation of apples in the municipality, even though in 1935 only a quarter of the population was involved in apple growing. Due to this fact and that mre villages dependend on horticulture, the president of the Brandenburg Province hesitated to approve the arms. However, due to poliltical pressure (the secretary was the local NSDAP chief) and to 'preserve the historical character of the village' the arms were granted in December 1935.
