Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 8, 1980.
The castle is the local castle, which dates from medieval times.
The green colour is taken from the arms of the Counts von Henneberg, who already had possessions in the area in 1317. In 1368 they sold their parts to the Diocese of Würzburg. The base shows the checquered bar from the arms of the Truchsesse von Wetzhausen family, who acted as local governors for the Bishops of Würzburg. At the same time, the bar represents the local Cistercian abbey, which existed from 1156-1803.
