MALDÀ
Region : Catalonia
Province : Lleida
Catalan | Escut caironat: d'atzur, un mont d'or movent de la punta somat d'una mà d'argent. Per timbre, una corona de baró. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
Canting arms: they show a "mà" (Catalan for "hand") on a hill; in fact Maldà is on a hill where the ancient castle stands. The village has been the centre of the medieval barony of Maldà i Maldanell (11th century); this is the reason of the baron's crown at the top of the arms.
