Origin/meaning
The dove is a symbol for the Congregation of the Holy Spirit to which the bishop belonged. The lower half symbolises the city of Jerusalem.
The grapes are a symbol for the Eucharist, the two oak leaves and the motto refer to strength, the fourth power of the Holy Spirit. The water-lily leaves are taken from the flag of the dutch province of Friesland, where he was born.
