Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 19, 1983.

The arms show a bible, a symbol for the two main religions in the municipality, Catholic and Protestant, which are symbolised by the two colours and divided shield. Historically the protestants were prosecuted and had to flee into the mountains. Later they were accepted and ever since the two groups live peacefully together.
