The arms are basically the same as the old Soviet arms (see below), with a different spelling of the name.
Unfortunately we have no information on the meaning or origin of these arms yet.

The first arms were granted on August 21, 1930 by the Romanian authorities.
In August 1985 the arms below were adopted by the town and approved by the Moldovan SSR.
